They are not the same job

Pressure washing removes what is on the surface with force. Soft washing removes it with chemistry, at roughly garden-hose pressure. On a concrete driveway, force is fine. On painted render, force takes the paint with it.

What goes wrong

The damage from over-pressuring does not show immediately. Render develops a faint stripe pattern that appears a month later as it dries unevenly. Colorbond loses its coating and fades in patches. Old roof tiles lose their glaze and start absorbing water — which is how a clean turns into a re-roof.

The rule we work to

Soft wash anything painted, coated, rendered or older than we can verify. Pressure only on hard, unfinished, modern surfaces, and even then at the lowest setting that does the job.
